CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
Just like our breath and our cardiac pulse, we have a cranial rhythm. This essential part of the craniosacral system reflects the deep connection between our central nervous system and the whole-body physiology.
A trained practitioner can feel the cranial rhythm from any part of the body and can use it to identify tension. Releasing this restrictive tension can improve the performance of the nervous system, in turn, enhance overall health.
CST can help release tension and reduce pain caused by injury, traumatic event, or stress, and can help process emotional trauma held in the body. People typically leave a session feeling deeply relaxed and centered. Some people experience immediate relief while others notice more gradual change over time. Each session is an invitation for the body to unwind when it’s ready. As such, each session is as unique as the person in my care, and the felt experience may be different each time.

A CranioSacral Therapy session is gentle and deeply attuned to you. Sessions are given fully clothed. The therapist will assess and use light, supportive touch to treat restricted areas found in the body.
Clients experience sessions in different ways. Some notice shifts during the session itself — a sense of release, ease, or deep relaxation. Others may experience a slower unfolding as the body integrates after the session, often noticing reduced pain, greater mobility, or a calmer nervous system.
CranioSacral Therapy works with the whole person. By supporting the body’s innate capacity to self-regulate and reorganize, this work can influence physical patterns as well as mental, emotional and spiritual change. As a result, the work can be profoundly relaxing, exhilarating, or deeply moving.

How often you receive treatment depends on your healing goals and what you are seeking support for — such as relief from acute or chronic symptoms, support in working with emotional trauma held in the body, or maintaining overall well-being on a regular basis. Acute injuries, for example, may benefit from a shorter series of sessions, while chronic or long-standing conditions often require more ongoing care.
I recommend beginning with a series of five sessions. This allows enough time for the body to respond and for us to notice whether the work feels supportive. After that, we can check in together. If you’re experiencing meaningful shifts or greater ease, we may choose to continue. If you feel complete or ready to pause, we can do that as well. And if the work doesn’t feel like the right fit, we can talk openly about other options that might support your healing journey.
When working with the body, change often unfolds gradually. The body responds in its own timing, when it feels ready and supported. CranioSacral Therapy honors this process and tends to be most effective when approached with patience and consistency. Please feel free to reach out if you have specific questions about your situation — I’m happy to connect.
Visceral Manipulation (VM)
Motion is essential to life. Everything in the universe is in motion. This rule applied to our bodies and organs/viscera. They need motion to be healthy.
Tissues lose their normal motion when they become inflamed. The natural healing process involves local disruption of normal tissue fibers and their replacement with relatively inelastic granular tissue. It’s as if a part of our body becomes dehydrated. When this happens, the organ will move around this point of decreased motion, which becomes the new axis of motility and mobility.
Visceral Manipulation is a manual therapy consisting of gentle, specifically placed manual forces that encourage normal mobility, tone and inherent motion of the viscera, their connective tissue, and other areas of the body where physiologic motion has been impaired.
Visceral Manipulation FAQ
-
Visceral Manipulation is helpful to all beings with bodies.
There are very few contraindications overall for Visceral Manipulation. Some of those contraindications include infection, inflammation, and signs of recent trauma. There are contraindications for certain VM techniques when working with certain populations, such as a pregnant client or an infant.
If you are concerned about a particular issue, please reach out so we can discuss and see if VM is right for you.

At the core of the pain or diagnosis is a compensatory pattern created in the body with the initial source of the dysfunction often being far from where the pain is felt. Because of this, the practitioner searches for this pattern and the source, and treats the related tissues to encourage the normal mobility, tone and motion of the viscera and their connective tissues. The treatment is a gentle compression, mobilization, and elongation of the soft tissues. As the source of the problem is released, the symptoms may start to decrease, and there may be an improvement in the functioning of individual organs, the systems the organs function within, and the structural integrity of the entire body.
Due to the delicate and often highly reactive nature of the visceral tissues, gentle force precisely directed reaps the greatest results.

Each session begins with a check in to see how you are feeling in your body. After our check in, we begin the hands-on session. The body guides us through the work we do together. I will do a general listening to hear where the body needs support, followed by a local listening to identify areas of restriction. As I listen, I share what I find. After I am done listening, we discuss the treatment plan for the session. Sessions are fully clothed, though access to your abdomen is helpful. It is recommended that you wear loose and comfortable clothing (no denim).

VM sessions can be done every 3 weeks. It is not recommended to have sessions sooner than 3 weeks because the body needs time to integrate the work.
